When it comes to wisdom, knowledge, and education, symbolically we are all at a garden. We desire to fill our baskets with every sort of food: grains, vegetables, fruits, maybe nuts or milk and honey…some sweet, and some bitter. It’s up to us to pick the most nutritious foods and then to feast upon them, internalizing their nutrients for our growth.
Each scholar is intended to grow, flourish, and develop. We see each scholar as a seedling, each needs to be cultivated, watered, and nourished. Then the inevitable will happen; they will grow. Dayspring is a program full of opportunities for growth. We have carefully selected curricula that will allow for the greatest amount of individual and collective growth. Our goal is to allow each scholar to choose the curriculum and classes that best fit the greatest amount of growth for their desires.
Our curriculum is not only for the growth of the scholars but also intended for the growth of our mentors, the mothers and the families as a whole. Our families will be amazed at the difference Dayspring makes for each one. We see every family participating. This means boots on the ground every Tuesday with our amazing youth. This is not a drop and go program. Dayspring will not be what it was intended to be without each mom-mentor present. As we work together, we build a community that is a driving force for good! We bring every part of who we are, and we share with those around us. This lifts and cultivates each member of the family as we become greater and greater together.
Each stage of growth is important and as we begin to grow, from a seedling into a beautiful plant—whether food, herb, or strong tree—we want to nurture growth. This is why we choose an agency-based education. Focusing on the growth of our families, and especially our youth scholars, creates many opportunities to develop into who we are meant to be in the different seasons of life. Whether it be summer or winter, we hope our scholars will have the skills needed to understand their environment and overcome.
Many of us, when we come to this garden with our hands and baskets empty are waiting for someone to fill it for us or tell us which food is for us. Every person is unique in their learning process and therefore each one needs to partake of the food (knowledge) which will truly fill them—no other person can know the food that fills you. It is your responsibility to find and take the knowledge that is best for your needs, wants and desires for now and in the future. To glean means to look at what’s offered and to fill your baskets to your heart’s content with the wisdom that needs to be learned for your individual life’s journey.
We want each scholar to know that they have unlimited potential. Together the scholars work, learn and glean together. While doing this they naturally lift and encourage each other. This allows for such a unique growth experience. We hope that each scholar has the ability to glean in abundance from an ever growing supply of wisdom and knowledge throughout their entire experience while here in Dayspring.
Each scholar chooses how they will do their part, because every scholar has a unique learning style. We don’t want to limit the scholars’ exponential growth in any way. We trust the scholar and their learning journey. Our ultimate goal is for each of our youth to grow into themselves in light and love. We encourage, inspire, light a fire of desire as each participates and gleans (feasts) from the banquet offered here.
We feel that Dayspring is the right
mix of soil, water and sun
where all scholars can grow.
